[0:00] Welcome. Today we explore a central idea in Hindu belief: Paramatma, which means the Supreme Soul or the one Supreme Reality behind everything that exists.
[0:45] Hindus understand Paramatma as eternal, meaning it was never born and never dies. It is also described as all-knowing, present everywhere, and the source of the whole universe.
[1:30] Although Paramatma is one, it can be experienced and worshipped through many forms and names. This is why Hinduism is sometimes described as worshipping one reality with many faces.
[2:20] The individual soul within each living being is called the Atman. Hindu teaching says the Atman is connected to Paramatma, the way a single drop of water is connected to a great ocean.
[3:10] Believing in one Supreme Reality encourages humility and respect, because the same divine spark is seen in every person. In Kenya, where many faiths live side by side, this idea supports peaceful coexistence.
