Understanding the Quran

Strand 1.0 introduces the Quran, the holy book of Islam. It is considered the literal word of Allah, revealed to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) through the Angel Jibril (Gabriel). The Quran is the ultimate source of guidance for Muslims in all aspects of life. ▸ Quran — The central religious text of Islam, believed by Muslims to be a revelation from God (Allah). Example: Reading verses from the Quran for guidance on ethical behavior or understanding God's creation. 1.1 Ulum al-Quran refers to the 'Sciences of the Quran'. This field encompasses various studies related to the Quran, such as its revelation, compilation, interpretation (Tafsir), and linguistic aspects. It helps in understanding the Quran in its proper context. ◆ Diagram: A simple flowchart showing the progression: Revelation of Quran -> Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) -> Companions -> Compilation -> Modern Day Study (Ulum al-Quran). 1.2 Selected Chapter: Surah Al-Hujurat. This Surah (chapter) of the Quran provides important teachings on social etiquette, mutual respect, and the unity of the Muslim community. It guides believers on how to interact with each other and with the Prophet (PBUH).
