[0:00] Sometimes we need a note to last longer than its usual value, and two tools help us do this: dots and ties.
[0:40] A dot adds half the note's value, while a tie joins two notes of the same pitch into one longer sound.
[1:20] Pitch is how high or low a note sounds; higher pitches feel light and sharp, lower pitches feel deep.
[2:00] The grand stave joins the treble staff for higher notes on top and the bass staff for lower notes below.
[2:45] Middle C sits between the two staves and acts as the central reference point linking treble and bass.
