Mirrors reflect light. While flat mirrors show a true reflection, curved mirrors can change the size and orientation of the image. There are two main types: concave mirrors and convex mirrors.
▸ Concave Mirror — A mirror with a surface that curves inward, like the inside of a spoon. It can magnify objects.
Example: Used in makeup mirrors or telescopes.
▸ Convex Mirror — A mirror with a surface that curves outward, like the back of a spoon. It shows a wider field of view but makes objects appear smaller.
Example: Used as security mirrors in shops or side-view mirrors on cars.
The way light bounces off a surface is called reflection. The angle at which light hits the mirror is equal to the angle at which it bounces off.
