[0:00] Animals cannot make their own food, so they are heterotrophs that feed on food already made by other organisms.
[0:45] Humans have four kinds of teeth: incisors for cutting, canines for tearing, and premolars and molars for grinding food.
[1:35] Digestion begins in the mouth, where teeth break food physically and saliva begins chemical breakdown of starch.
[2:25] Food then passes to the stomach and the small intestine, where enzymes from the pancreas and other glands complete digestion.
[3:15] Digested food is absorbed into the blood through the ileum, which has many folds and tiny villi to give a huge surface area.
