[0:00] Area is the amount of flat surface a shape covers, measured in square units. [0:40] A rectangle's area is length times width, and a triangle's area is half base times height. [1:25] A circle's area is pi times the radius squared, and a sector is a fraction of that whole circle. [2:10] The surface area of a solid is the total of all its faces, which we can see clearly from its net. [2:55] For an irregular shape we estimate by counting whole and part squares on a grid.
